CLOSING>>>>>>> PLEASE READ>>>>>>> We are VERY SORRY to announce that Dr. Murphy has found it necessary to bring an end to her medical practice in Pacifica. This is primarily as a result of recent unexpected insurance changes.... After searching for many solutions, it became apparent that the wisest choice was to close this office. She looked at multiple options and ways to keep the practice going, but it just didn't "make sense" any more to do so. Many of you know that Dr. Murphy has been commuting from Hawaii for the past year. This change has nothing to do with that commute, as she will continue to travel from Maui as she practices medicine in Oregon, where she will be closer to her mother as she ages, and closer to other family and friends. We are all very fond of our practice and our patients and Pacifica, and all will be missed! Dr. Kim also will be starting a new job - in San Jose associated with Foothill College.
CHECK BACK to this website for future plans for Dr. Murphy, as she may be establishing a small Telemedicine Practice based in California. (See Telemedicine Consults Page). This will be solidified in the next month or two. In the meantime.....
HERE IS THE PLAN: If you are an HMO patient taking medication or with issues that Dr. Murphy is helping you to manage: You need to be seen in our office sometime in JUNE 2016, as our HMO contract will end June 30, 2016. Any HMO visits after June 30 will be "cash pay" visits that your insurance will not cover. You should receive a letter from Mills Peninsula Medical Group with information about how to transfer to a new primary MD.
If you are a PPO, Medicare, or Cash Paying Patient.... for those of you who are taking medication prescribed by Dr. Murphy or with issues that Dr. Murphy is helping you to manage: You need to be seen in our office sometime in JULY 2016. This will enable Dr. Murphy to make sure that you have everything you need while you transition to a new Primary Care Provider. The primary purpose of this final visit is not to address new issues, but to make sure that you have an ongoing plan and are cared for in this transition.
After July 31, Dr Murphy will be in the office a little bit to finish up additional visits and to assist select patients who require more complex management transitions. However, routine prescriptions will no longer be filled by our office at that time. We will no longer be seeing same day urgent visits in August, and the phones will be on for "short hours" only. You MUST BE SEEN before August 1 to make sure you have what you need!!!!

About Medical Records: As you can imagine, transferring 2000+ medical charts will take a little bit of time. Dr. Murphy will be working on preparing these charts in July and in August. Tina will still be working with us at least through the end of the year. So she will also be assisting with these transfers. The best thing to do is to let us know as soon as you do find a new doctor to see. Then please have them FAX US with a request for record transfer: Fax: 800-635-6818 There will be no charge for the transfer of records. But please do be patient - we will process everything as quickly as possible~! If we haven't heard from you by the end of 2016, your records will be in storage, or will be handed to you directly. Don't worry, they won't vanish!
